About Us

Welcome to Murduff's Jewelry

Unlike many retailers today that just want to sell merchandise without providing the service to go along with the products, we believe the products you buy are only as good as the store you buy them from. We do much more than sell jewelry. With our three master goldsmiths and master hand engraver, we are able to custom design a piece of jewelry or modify an existing one. Most of our jewelry can be made in any metal and any gemstone you desire. If you’ve longed or dreamed about one piece of jewelry, why shouldn’t you have it made exactly the way you want it?

Our formally trained graduate master craftsmen and are regularly called upon for the restoration of the finest antique jewelry by Tiffany, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Bulgari. We have also been hired by the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., have restored pieces crafted by Paul Revere and have crafted trophies for the PGA tour.

MurDuff’s is the essence of a fine jewelry store.
The biggest difference you will notice in our store is that we love what we do and we have fun doing it. When you visit MurDuff’s Jewelry, we promise you a relaxed, professional experience. After all, we’ve been in business since 1946. Long enough to know that if you’re going to make one of the largest purchases with the deepest meaning in your life, you don’t want to be pushed, hurried, or ignored. We pride ourselves in listening to our customers and exceeding their needs.

We hand pick every diamond, not just for its value but for its brilliance; it is the most brilliant diamond we can buy. Did you know that 40% of a diamond’s price can be due to the way the diamond is cut? When you purchase your jewelry from MurDuff’s, you never have to wonder if you got a great diamond because we know where all our diamonds come from. Which means we know who cut them and how to assess their value before we ever set them. It also means we’re not afraid to stand behind your purchase, because you should have high expectations for your diamond. We’re here to stand behind your purchase.

Thank you for visiting our website and we hope to visit with you in our store.

Our History

In 1946, MurDuff’s Jewelry was opened in Florence, Massachusetts. With over 75 years of service to the community, we are proud of our history in Florence. Our work is completed on site and our formal training ensures that each project is done to the highest standard. MurDuff’s has two master goldsmiths and a hand engraver.

Master goldsmith, Kurt Brazeau, has a degree in Jewelry Fabrication, Design and Repair from North Bennett Street School in Boston, Massachusetts. Established in 1885, North Bennet specializes in old world craftsmanship: the restoration and fabrication of violins, making & refurbishing antique furniture, bookbinding, and jewelry making & repair. Kurt can design a piece of jewelry from a pencil sketch or photo, regularly restores original antique pieces by Tiffany and Cartier, and has restored Masonic jewels originally crafted by Paul Revere. Kurt has designed and created countless pieces ranging from classic to contemporary and everything in between.

Our master hand engraver and goldsmith, Paul Piquette, completed his apprenticeship at Smith & Wesson, where he became a master gun engraver. He has a certificate of appreciation from The Smithsonian for engraving. In the spring of 2015, Paul engraved a hand-made silver plaque to be inserted into the time capsule originally buried by Paul Revere, Sam Adams, and William Scollay in 1795. The capsule was found in the cornerstone of the Massachusetts State House in Boston and contained multiple pieces of history including a silver plate probably crafted and engraved by Paul Revere himself. Once the capsule is reinserted into the cornerstone of the State House, Paul will become an important part of American history.

Our third goldsmith, Mia, completed the Graduate Bench Jeweler Program at New Approach School for Jewelers in May of 2022 and joined the Murduffs family shortly thereafter. Following a decade in client services at a New York City marketing agency, Mia is eager to put her Art History degree and attention to detail to work designing and executing one-of-a-kind custom pieces of jewelry and absorbing Kurt and Paul's knowledge and mastery of their craft.

Both Kurt and Paul each have over twenty five years experience perfecting their craft. We would be happy to design and create your own special piece or restore a family heirloom. Even with our out-of-town clientele, we continue to enjoy working in the town where we grew up, for the people we consider friends. Because when it comes right down to it, every customer is important to us. Your idea or personal piece of jewelry is treated with care and respect. Each task is done in order of the drop off date and is usually completed within two weeks. A five-year-old’s Kindergarten pin is repaired right alongside a vintage Harry Winston piece.

In addition to our three goldsmiths, we have numerous salespeople trained to help you find that perfect something for you or someone you love. If they can’t help you find what you’re looking for in the store, they are more than happy to help you order something from one of our top-notch vendors or design something from scratch with any one of the goldsmiths. They can also help you with basic repairs and pricing. Our salespeople do not work off of commission or pressured with sales goals, which makes for a comfortable, relaxed experience.

MurDuff’s will only sell products that we feel are of the highest quality and value. How good is our quality? Our diamond studs are made so well that we offer a 100% trade up with no strings attached. You can trade-in our diamond studs as many times as you like. Start with a quarter carat and work your way up to two carats. At Murduff’s, we consider ourselves craftsmen. Our store has a casual atmosphere and we are competent, but never pretentious. The jewelry we make tends to sell itself. We firmly believe you will find a difference between our store and mass merchandisers. We do not wish to be a superstore, chain, or franchise. MurDuff’s is a true jewelry store.
